When installing and using sealing rings, the following precautions should be taken:
Before installation, confirm that the lead-in angle is machined according to the drawing, and that sharp edges are chamfered or rounded; that burrs have been removed from the inner diameter, and that the surface is free of contamination; that machining residues, such as debris, dirt, and foreign particles, have been removed; that the thread tips have been covered; and that the seal and parts have been coated with grease or lubricant (ensuring compatibility with the elastomer's medium, it is recommended to use the fluid being sealed for lubrication); do not use greases containing solid additives, such as molybdenum disulfide or zinc sulfide.
(1) Do not install in the wrong direction or damage the lip. Scratches larger than 50μm on the lip may cause significant oil leakage.
(2) Prevent forced installation. Do not hammer it in; instead, use a special tool to press the sealing ring into the seat hole first, then use a simple cylinder to protect the lip as it passes through the spline area. Before installation, apply some lubricant to the lip to facilitate installation and prevent burning during initial operation; ensure it is clean. When installing manually, use tools without sharp edges; ensure the O-ring is not twisted, and use auxiliary tools to ensure correct positioning; use installation auxiliary tools as much as possible; do not overstretch the O-ring; for O-rings bonded with sealing strips, do not stretch at the joint. When the O-ring is stretched and needs to pass through threads, splines, keyways, etc., an installation mandrel must be used. This mandrel can be made of relatively soft metal or plastic and must not have burrs or sharp edges.
(3) Prevent exceeding the service life. The service life of the rubber seals of dynamic seals is generally 3000-5000 hours, and new seals should be replaced in time.
(4) The size of the replaced seals must be consistent. Strictly follow the instructions and select seals of the same size; otherwise, the required tightness and other requirements cannot be guaranteed.
(5) Avoid using old seals. When using new seals, carefully check their surface quality to ensure there are no defects such as pinholes, protrusions, cracks, and grooves, and that they have sufficient elasticity before use.
(6) During installation, thoroughly clean all parts of the opened hydraulic system. It is best to use specialized tools to prevent cuts from sharp metal edges.
(7) When replacing the sealing ring, carefully inspect the sealing ring groove, remove any dirt, and grind the bottom of the groove.
(8) To prevent damage leading to oil leakage, operate according to the procedures. Do not operate the machine under excessive load for extended periods or in harsh environments.
